Search engine optimization or SEO is comprised of many factors. But obviously your main goal is getting your site listed on the "organic" search engines. Many of the
"marketing
tips" I mention on this site
will help you.
I am going to give you a few more basic seo tips that I have used to get my site on the first page of most of the major search engines.
I started out in the internet marketing business selling Multi-Pure water filters, so
www.purestdrinkingwater.com is the first site I built (about 2 1/2 years ago.)
Go ahead and do a search for Multi-Pure, Multi-Pure water filters, nsf certified water filters, etc.
(You will find my site on the first page of all the major search engines)
I NEVER paid anyone, I never bought a book, or an online course, I never went to school to learn it. I taught myself by reasearching and countless hours learning everything I could about SEO. I have read, read, read, and read some more about how to get my site listed on the first page of Google and my site has been there and it has stayed there for over 2 years now.
These are the basic main things you need to do to get your site listed. Some of the tips will only apply if you have access to your site (not an affiliate site) and some will apply to both.
1. You
must have Meta tags on your site. (i am not going to explain
what meta tags are here) if you want to learn what meta tags are - go Google it, Then put them on your site in this order - Title, description, key word.
Every single page on your site needs these tags. Make sure to use a very descript title, description, and keywords for each of your pages! (do not use the same ones for each page). When placing these tags on your site, make sure that those tags are relevant to the products or subject of your site.
2. You must get clicks to your site! (whether your visitors buy or not) Clicks to your site are like a
"vote" in the search engine world. I have listed several ways to get free clicks to your site here in the
"marketing tips" - USE THEM! They're free!
3. You must get "back links" to your site. Using the social networks is an excellent way to get
back links. Put your link EVERYWHERE you can. be it free classifieds, local free adds, blogs,
squidoo.com or anywhere you can put that link! You may use a link exchange service (Never use a pay for link exchange service) but I dont think it is necessary if you can place your own links. I have also given you a list of free places in the
"marketing tips" - USE THEM.
4. You must submitt your site to the search engines! (again a list of over 100 search engines is located in the
marketing tips)
5. Use
Google's Analytics,
Webmaster
tools & add a
Google sitemap to your site. (you will need to have an account with Google)
These tools can be a bit confusing for the beginner, but if you stick with it you can figure it out. (I did) and so can you!
6. Set up a
Google adwords ppc (pay per click) account. If you can afford a little bit of money, I highly suggest using Google adwords. (I started out using Yahoo ppc and could only afford $2.00 per day). After I started making sales I was able to afford up to $10 - $20 per day or more. I now use Google primarily, because I get more targeted clicks, but Yahoo is a bit cheaper.
By using ppc, this helps your site to get indexed into all the major search engines. So even if you only use it once or twice a week, other search engines will pick up your site! I have also wrote a bit about PPC here in the
"marketing tips"
Just these 6 tips will take you a considerable amount of time to accomplish. I will continually be adding tips here so If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to call me anytime.
